Hi, my name is Evan Frankfort and I’m a 6th generation Los Angelino composer / producer / musician. In a family of classically trained musicians, I grew up a misfit with a hard time following rules. Starting off in bands, I would often count down the minutes until I could be off stage and back at work with my 4-track. I co-founded a band called Gingersol and later joined Maypole (Sony/Work Group) playing bass and lap steel. In 1995, I won a Daytime Emmy for Guiding Light but left to tour with Maypole, The Wallflowers and the Jayhawks. While touring, it became clear my heart was back in the studio. As an early adopter of Pro Tools, I found creative ways to develop cool sounds. My rig and I became a staple at most LA studios. I worked with many talented artists and bands including Rancid, Pete Yorn, The Bangles, Distillers, Turbonegro, Orson, The Muffs, The Plain White T’s, Greg Kihn, A Flock of Seagulls, Missing Persons and Liz Phair. Liz and I have also scored a half dozen shows together including Swingtown, Beverly Hills 90210, In Plain Sight, The Client List and Super Fun Night. I’ve also co-founded a band called Les Friction, in which I go by the pseudonym Nihl Finch. Other bands I’ve founded include, Melodine, The Motherless Bastards, Why Wolves, The Highest of Lows and The Spiritual Machines. More recently, I composed the theme and scored the series, CW’s The 100 as well as a host of shows spanning across ABC, CW, NBC and CBS Saturday Mornings. This led to me becoming the Head of Music at Hearst Media Production group where I oversee music for 25 shows including the series Harlem Globetrotters: Play it Forward, Jack Hanna’s Into The Wild, (Emmy Nominated for music and musical direction) Wildlife Nation, Mission Unstoppable, Innovation Nation, Earth Odyssey, Lucky Dog and (Emmy Nominated for music and musical direction) Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. Thanks for stopping by!
